The Cheetahs are a peaceful people that live a quiet life in the wilds of the Realms. They show little interest in the affairs of the larger world and have a fearful distrust of Dragonkind due to the misfortunes caused by Malefor and the corrupted Cynder. They were soon forced into action when Malefor's army threatened their way of life.[1]One Cheetah named Hunter attempted to help in the war against Malefor before his village got involved. After their encounter with Spyro and Cynder, the cheetahs joined the Dragon race in their fight against Malefor's forces. It was mentioned by Meadow that not all of the cheetahs share the same views as their village leader, Prowlus, who held a strong and understandable distrust towards Dragons.

Trivia
All of the cheetahs in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon have very similar appearances. Though they may be different colors and holding different weapons, in artwork they all have the same stance and the same eyes.
One particular plotline in both Spyro: Shadow Legacy and Dawn of the Dragon is similar to the other games. In Shadow Legacy, Spyro is thrown in jail after being accused by Kasi of being the cause of the Calamity that brought the Shadow Realm to the Savannah all because he was a purple dragon. Hunter was imprisoned as well for siding with Spyro. Within the reboot of Dawn of the Dragon, Spyro and Cynder were chained by Prowlus for being a purple dragon and the former servant of Malefor respectively. Hunter was chained for bringing the two dragons, who are part of the race who caused misfortunes to the Cheetah Village.
