Fear is an element acquired by Cynder in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. The noticeable effect of the Fear element is when the magic is used, its power can petrify foes and turn on special machinery like tuning forks.
Symbol
The symbol of fear utilizes two different designs. In the console versions, it is Cynder's head colored ruby red. The eyes are squinting, giving others a glare to strike fear into their hearts. However, in the handheld version, it looks like a ruby red skull in a black background.
Abilities
Fear as a dragon's breath weapon, called Siren Scream, is projected as red soundwaves that are accompanied by disembodied screams. Dragons can also release ghastly red eyes that home in on their targets, swirl around them and explode. The noticeable effect of this element is when the magic is used, its power can petrify foes. Cynder's Siren Scream can be used to turn on special machinery like Tuning Forks found in the Ruins of Warfang.
Primary Fear
- Siren Scream: Cynder can unleash her fear element as a scream. The red waves hit enemies and petrify them with fear. The sound is also loud enough to activate tuning forks.

- Piercing Siren Scream
Secondary Fear

Trivia
- Part of the inspiration for Cynder's Fear element originated from the developers looking into various popular fantasy books – such as Dragon Lance. In the book series, dragons give off Dragon Fear, which frightens anyone in the vicinity to near paralysis. There are a lot of really interesting magical abilities that some of the darker dragons have, not just in that series, but in many fantasy books that deal with dragons.[2]
- Malefor uses the Fear element as his breath weapon during the final phase of his boss fight when he's protected by his Dark Aether shield.
- According to lead concept artist Jared Pullen, dragons of the Poison, Shadow and Fear elements exist, but the elements themselves come from a different, darker entity instead of the light entity that created the other elements (Fire, Electricity, Ice, Earth and Wind).[3]
