This article is about the boss level in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage. You may be looking for the boss level in Spyro 2: Season of Flame.

Gulp's Overlook is the second boss realm in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, an arena within the castle of Autumn Plains where Spyro and Gulp fought in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, also where Ripto sits on his new throne as he watches Gulp chomp his enemies.

Battle[]

Stage 1[]

The first portion of the battle has Gulp just charging at you. You can't do anything against him by yourself because he is a boss, so just charge away until some pterodactyls drop down Barrels. Once these barrels are dropped, Spyro will immediately charge one into Gulp before he has a chance to pick one up himself. If he does, he'll spew a wave of fire you'll have to jump over.

Stage 2[]

Next, Gulp starts shooting you with large electro-balls from his dual energy guns on his back. Keep moving at all times and watch their shadows to see where they are going to land. In Reignited, where they're much easier to see, he'll lead his shots so charge erratically to avoid getting hit.

The pterodactyls will start dropping bombs now, too. Flame them into Gulp, and run away before they explode. If Gulp eats one, it'll cause him to explode balls of fire in all directions, but you can dodge this.

Stage 3[]

The pterodactyls soon start dropping little rockets. These rockets stay in your mouth and can be shot at Gulp from a distance. If Gulp gets one, he'll shoot it and it will home on you, forcing you to charge away until it explodes. Chicken will also be dropped on the field to help regain health but if Gulp gets to one, it'll restore a portion of his instead.

Stage 4[]

The pterodactyls start dropping things of all types, and Gulp is going to go all out in a bid to stop Spyro. Eating chickens, the occasional stomp, and longer volleys will be a test of speed, reactions and timing.

Trivia[]

  • The original arena before release originally did not have walls or the ceiling, and the skybox is red instead of blue.
  • The music in this level was remixed in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly for Ripto's Showdown
  • This is one of the two levels in the series that you can use missile breath, the other being Fireworks Factory.
  • Stewart Copeland's track for this level, also named "Gulp's Overlook", was used as background music in two episodes of Farscape, first in the episode entitled "Bone to Be Wild," in the scene where Crais has a physical scuffle against Scorpius, who manages to pin him down and warn him that he's of the superior species. Additionally, it was also used as background music a second time in the episode entitled "The Hidden Memory," in the escape scene where everyone is seen shooting at each other.
  • Chickens appear as the arena fodder. However, if Gulp eats one, he will be healed.
  • The music in this stage is used in some episodes of Cyberchase.
  • If Spyro picks up a rocket in his mouth after shooting another at Gulp, or using something else to harm him, but before Gulp jumps and destroys everything, the rocket will remain Spyro's mouth until he spits it out.
