Light Gems

Light Gems are collectible items that are similar to Dark Gems, but are used to power gadgets and open new areas. There are a total of 100 Light Gems to collect in Spyro: A Hero's Tail.

Spyro will need to collect eight Light Gems in order to unlock the Ball Gadget, 24 to unlock the invincibility powerup and 40 to unlock the Supercharge. There are also gates that require a certain number of Light Gems in order to be opened.
