Connecting to a PlayStation through a memory card slot, the PocketStation also functions as a PlayStation memory card. It was released exclusively in Japan on January 23, 1999. When plugged in while playing the Japanese versions of Spyro the Dragon and Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! will unlock the following minigames:
Sparx Special Training! (とっくん!スパークス)[]
Found in Spyro the Dragon, it is a dragonfly training game, where you raise your very own dragonfly. You play minigames to increase its level and growth. You can feed it food to recover HP, but can gain weight if you feed to much. Walking recovers HP but only lasts for a period of time. You can breed dragonflies to create new dragonflies, and you can also play against your friends.
Sparx Adventure (冒険!スパークス)[]
Found in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, Sparx Adventure is very much like Sparx Special Training but has some little changes. Like the first you raise a dragonfly. Sparx judges how you are looking after your dragon fly. You play minigames to raise the growth level and overall level of your dragonfly. Unlike the first you can also send your dragonfly on adventures. You don't see it adventure instead you get "Adventure Mail" and news. Another thing you can do with your dragonfly is breed it with other dragonflies.
