Snail Riders are enemies found in The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. They serve as ground mounts for the Apes, and only appear when Gaul's forces attack the Dragon Temple. They attack Spyro by spewing out globs of slime at him from a distance and swinging their necks at him or headbutting him if he is too close to them. Spyro needs to strike the Snail into making it hide in its shell in order to attack its Rider (the real target) to defeat them.

The snails will hide in their shells if you breathe fire and are susceptible to fury. You can strike the snail rider without making the snail hide and it is easier because when the Snail pops out of its shell it can hit you easily. Dragon Time is a big help in defeating Snail Riders.
